Notion to Markdown
Notion can export to Markdown, but every file name ends in a 32-character ID and callouts arrive as raw
HTML. The usual clean-up tools run on the command line. RichMarkdown does it in your browser.
Step by step
- In Notion, export your page or workspace as Markdown & CSV. You get a
.zip. - Drop the
.zipon the RichMarkdown editor, or use Open file…. You don't need to unzip it. - Every page opens as a note. Fix anything you like.
- Click Download these as .zip, or Notes → Download all (.zip), to get clean files and an
images/folder.
What gets cleaned
| In the Notion export | After RichMarkdown |
|---|---|
Trip 0123…cdef.md | Trip.md |
[Hotel](Hotel%200123…cdef.md) | [Hotel](Hotel.md) |

💡 Pack light
| > 💡 Pack light |
| Images in ID-named folders | Kept with the note, exported as files |
Limits
- Notion databases exported as
.csvare not converted; those files are skipped. - Notes live in your browser's storage, which holds about 5 MB. For a very large export, convert in batches and download as you go.
- Two pages with the same name get numbered file names in the download, so links between them may need checking.
FAQ
Is my Notion export uploaded?
No. The zip is unpacked and converted inside your browser.
Can I open other zip files?
Yes. Any .zip of Markdown files works, including an Obsidian folder or a RichMarkdown export: Markdown files become notes and the images they link to are kept.
