ChatGPT answers into Word, without the ** and #
AI chat apps write their answers in Markdown. Paste one into Word or an email and you can end up with literal **, # and tables drawn with | characters. RichMarkdown turns that Markdown into real formatting, lets you fix it up, and copies it in a form Word and Google Docs understand.

Three steps
- In the chat app, click the copy button under the answer. That copies the Markdown version.
- Open the RichMarkdown editor, click New, click into the page and paste with
Ctrl + V. Headings, bold, lists, tables and code blocks appear formatted straight away. Edit anything you like. - Click the ▾ next to Export .md and choose Copy for Word / Google Docs. Paste into Word, Google Docs, Outlook, Gmail or Feishu.
Want a file instead? The same menu has Save as PDF / print, which prints only the document.

Limits
- Math formulas written in LaTeX (
$x^2$) stay as text for now; they are not turned into Word equations yet. - Pictures are copied when they have a normal web address; some apps only show AI-generated images inside the chat.
FAQ
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser. The answer is only stored in this browser so it is still there if you reload.
Why does ChatGPT output contain ** at all?
Chat apps write Markdown and format it on screen. When you copy, the receiving app decides what to do with it, and Word usually keeps the raw Markdown characters.
Can I also get the Markdown file?
Yes. Export .md downloads it, ready for GitHub, Obsidian or Notion.
Does it work for DeepSeek, Kimi or Doubao?
Yes. Any answer written in Markdown works the same way. There is also a Chinese version of this guide.
